Jason Plato claimed his 80th career BTCC victory after a coming out on top of a thrilling three-car battle for the win at Silverstone. Plato immediately had to roll his sleeves up as he was forced to fend off the fast starting BMW of Colin Turkington. The safety car, caused by the collision of Rob Austin and Frank Wrathall, once again worked against Plato allowing the field to close up once more. As Plato led Jordan and Aron Smith both on the soft began to scythe their way through the field until the race finally came to a head when Jordan, after relentlessly closing the gap to Plato, took the lead in Brooklands, only for the Plato to undercut him as they arrived back at Copse corner. Plato was able to hang on by slimmest of margins as the pair, with Smith glued behind, traded paintwork on a number of occasions.
