Round 6 of the 2017 IndyCar season
Fernando Alonso stunned the motor sport world by skipping Formula One’s Monaco Grand Prix to race in the Indianapolis 500 instead. He lined up a promising fifth but it was another Honda-powered driver, Scott Dixon, who started from pole position. For very different reasons, both were destined not to finish the race. Sebastien Bourdais was unable to start after being badly injured in a qualifying crash.
