Will Power began the 2017 season on pole position but an early puncture followed by a pit-lane penalty dropped hime down the order. James Hinchcliffe took up the lead but a caution period put Simon Pagenaud to the head of the file. A flying Sebastien Bourdais, who had started from last place following a crash in qualifying, took the lead from his fellow countryman and went on to score a surprise win on his debut for Coyne. It was the team’s first win since 2014.
